The infrared rays are responsible for the sensation of warmth and eye strain.

  Indeed, the heat from these rays the tear film evaporates and increases dry eye - a particularly uncomfortable for wearers of contact lenses.

The heat transported through infrared radiation also weakens the ocular tissues against the deleterious effects of UV and blue light, they are involved in the visual appearance of diseases such as cataract, AMD, etc..
